Android instructions
- Connect your Android-phone with the USB-cable, mount it as a drive.
- Login to your web mail account from your computer, Go to Settings / Personal Information / click on [Show keys] and enter your password.
- If you entered the correct password you will see your keys under the [Show keys]-button.
- Click on [Save IMAP-key] and save the file (imapkey.asc) on your mobile drive.
- Click on [Save PrivKey] and save the file (privkey.asc) on your mobile drive.
- Go to [Contacts] in the upper menu, select all public keys that you want to export, click on [Export keys] and save the file (pubkeys.asc) on your mobile drive.
- Disconnect your phone
- On your phone, go to Market
- Install "OpenKeyChain" (https://www.openkeychain.org)
- Install "TxtPad lite"
- Install "K9 Mail" app (http://code.google.com/p/k9mail/wiki/Home)
- Start the app "TxtPad Lite" and Open File "imapkey.asc" from the SD-card, select and copy the key (press and hold finger, select copy all)
- Start the app "OpenKeyChain", go to # -> Manage Secret Keys -> # -> Import Keys, use File Browser to import the file "privkey.asc" from the SD-card, click "[x] Delete after import", go back in OpenKeyChain and also Import your friends Public keys from the file "pubkeys.asc" (Manage Public Keys)
- Start the app "K9 Mail", create a new account with these settings:
Incoming IMAP-server:
IMAP: imap1.countermail.com
Auth type: Cram-MD5 (Encrypted password)
Security: "SSL Always"
Port: 993
Username youraccount@countermail.com (in lowercase)
Password: paste your IMAP-key* (press and hold your finger and select Paste)
K9 will now test the connection, if something went wrong you will get an error message, otherwise proceed.
Outgoing SMTP-server:
SMTP: imap1.countermail.com
Security: "SSL Always"
Port: 465
Click [x] Require login
Auth type: Cram-MD5 (Encrypted password)
Username youraccount@countermail.com (in lowercase)
Password: paste your IMAP-key* (press and hold your finger and select Paste)
K9 will now test the connection, if something went wrong you will get an error message, otherwise proceed. - Go to Account Settings \ Sending mail \ Message Format \ select "Plain text"
- Start the app "File Browser" and delete the file "imapkey.asc"
- Done!
*NOTE: The IMAP-key is always of 32 characters long. Make sure you don't have any blank spaces or new lines. If you change the password on your account (or activates our USB-key) you must export and import the new IMAP-key into the K9 app, on your mobile.
