Frequently Asked Question

What is the difference between the Download and View button?
Last Updated 10 years ago

It will always ask you where on your computer to save the attachment.

  • Download button will only download the attachment.
  • View button will first ask you to download and then it will automatically open the attachment with your default viewer for that type of attachment.

If you click View on an attachment in a normal unsecure webmail, like Gmail/Hotmail, it will always be saved first as a temp-file, before calling the default viewer to open that file, the file is either saved inside the web browser cache folder or in the users Temp-folder. However the saving-to-disk is automatically handled by the web browser, the end-user never see the "saving". But it always saved to your hard drive first, no matter which provider you use.
