Enabling auto-expunge in Thunderbird / Avoid duplicate emails
Last Updated 5 years ago

The most secure way of using Thunderbird is to enable auto-expunge and. This is also good to get rid of duplicate emails. When you get unencrypted emails, our server will encrypt them within one hour (maximum). If you don't have disabled the cache you may get duplicates inside Thunderbird, one encrypted email and one unencrypted. This do not happen in our webmail interface. But in TB you must do a few settings to avoid duplicates.

Click on the menu named Tools --> Options -> Network & Disk Space

And configure everything as seen on the picture below:

Click  General and Click on Config Editor (you dont have to change anything on the General page)

Click on the button "I'll be careful, I promise!"

Enter the word "expunge" in the search bar at the top and press ENTER.
Change values by double clicking on the rows, one at a time, values should be same as seen on the picture

Enter the word "browser.cache" in the search bar at the top and press ENTER.
Change values by double clicking on the rows, one at a time, values should be same as seen on the picture

Close this window (about:config) . Click OK-button on the next Options window, close and restart Thunderbird.
